The Skeeter Fund
This is Nibbles, and through the generosity of the Skeeter Fund, we were able to try to help this little girl as best we could.

It is with great saddness and sorrow that we have to inform everyone that our little girl Nibbles has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We are so sorry; and thank you to everyone who sent good wishes her way, who sent positive thoughts, and who donated on her behalf to the Skeeter Fund. We tried our best.
We would like to thank the staff at the Orchard Park Emergency Vet Clinic for their sincere care and help with Nibbles.
We would like to thank the following people for their generous donations on behalf of Nibbles: Marguerite, Molly, Robert, Maria, Angela, Becky, Sandra, Nicole, Michelle, David, Craig, Ilda, Shariann, Amy, Carolyn, Nancy, Susan, Janice, Michael, Deanna, Briony, Lauren, Lost and Found Dog Rescue, Paula, Tim, Sara, Susan M., Cindy, Rick, JoAnn, Kerri, Susan P., Patricia, Karen R., Gail, Tandy, Mary
Please consider donating to our Skeeter Fund in an effort to save other puppies, dogs, kittens and cats just like Nibbles. These unfortunate souls often come to us starved, dehydrated, abused and neglected. It is up to us to show them the compassion they deserve; but we depend on you to help us with the vet bills to make this happen. Thank you on behalf of the animals.
What is the Skeeter Fund?
This is Skeeter.
The Skeeter fund is set up in memory of our beloved Skeeter, our lovable corgi/heeler that came to us when no other rescue would take him. He tested positive for heartworm and we treated him. His body couldn't handle the worm load in his lungs and heart, his platlets dropped drastically, and his body hemorrhaged. We had to make the painful decision to let him cross the rainbow bridge and end his suffering. Our efforts to save Skeeter completely drained our personal finances. His vet bills were in excess of $2,500. (Now that we are back on our feet) We came to the realization that we need to create a "special fund" to set aside just for animals needing special care, just like Skeeter.
The purpose of the Skeeter fund is to set aside money for the neediest animals that come into our rescue. Animals with special medical needs such as mange, heartworm, broken bones or broken spirits (rehabilitation). The Skeeter fund will allow Black Dog, Second Chance to take in the neediest dogs that other rescues may pass over and provide the medical assistance they so desperately need in order to save their lives.
Every dollar donated to BDSC in honor of Skeeter goes directly to the care of the dogs and/or cats that need it most.
