Each month we will feature a different story from one of the live's of our rescue pets.
Meet Sister and Sweetie!
(pics coming soon)
These two gals were dropped off by their owner at a high kill shelter in Kentucky, together. They are a totally bonded, mother and daughter duo. Sister is the mother, and Sweetie is the daughter. We were asked to take them, because the shelter they were at knows that we have a soft spot for Blue Heelers (Sister is a purebred). We agreed to take them, they went in for vetting, and we found out that Sister was positive for heartworm! ACK! The shelter asked us if we "still wanted her". Of course we did! Just because she was sick, didn't change our love for her, nor our commitment. We raised some money, and sent it to the shelter. Sister received her heartworm treatment and was transported to us with Sweetie shortly afterwards. Sister is recovering, with Sweetie, in one of our most loving, nurturing foster homes that we have! (thanks Cathy!).
Here's the deal: Sweetie, the daughter, is so VERY bonded to her mom. She just cannot leave her side, it is endearing. If she is more than 5 feet away from her, she will search for her and scoot back and run beneath her belly. This pair really need one another.
These dogs are small, Sweetie is 35 pounds, and Sister is only 40. They are small enough and don't take up much space. THEY NEED TO BE ADOPTED TOGETHER. We are willing to reduce their adoption fee for the perfect family. Please consider making them your new family members. They are very special girls and deserve a second chance at life. A fenced yard is a must and a quiet home is necessary.
