Description:
Meet Rusty! Rusty is mellow and gets along with everyone. =) Rusty is a chatty fella with a pleasant disposition and loves to greet his foster family at the door when they arrive home. He is snuggly and cuddly and looking for a special home.

*** Foster update- 7/23 Rusty has been with us for a few days now and he is a really sweet boy with a quirky personality. He has a bit of energy but he is small so it's not over the top by any means. He is also an incredible snuggler and loves to curl up with me on the couch whenever he can. He does well on a leash although he will try to pull a bit when he's excited. (of course my pack is off-leash when we walk in the field and the poor guy is probably trying to figure out why they can run ahead and he can't). Rusty is very vocal when he feels seperated from the action but if he's allowed around his people he's content. He just doesn't like to feel left out I think. House training is improving. He seems to want to mark a little but I am also fostering an un-neutered male alongside him so I'm sure that isn't helping any. Rusty hasn't had any issues with any of my other dogs and he quickly seemed to settle in with them as if he'd been here forever.  He sleeps contentedly in a gated room with a few other dogs and I don't hear a peep from him until I wake in the morning. The excitement that I'm finally up is a sight to see though! LOL He really is a neat liitle dog, although a little on the hefty side (we're working on it) and I can see him fitting in to many different households.

Foster update 8/26  Well it's been a little over a month and it feels like Rusty is one of the family. He's a really fun little guy with just the right mix of playfullness and lazyness and he's perfectly happy to join in with whichever mood I'm in. I think at first he had a bit of seperation anxiety which he expressed vocally but now the only time you hear it is when he's showing you how happy he is that you're home. We've progressed to him walking off-leash with the pack and he just goes with the routine as if he's been doing it his whole life. He never says no to a treat and seems to do pretty well at fetching balls (right up to the point where my "alpha female" barges in and reminds him that I'M HERS, LOL). I believe this little guy would do extremely well in a household who is looking for a buddy to go on walks, backyard playing, even agility if that's what you'd like to dabble in. And his smaller size (just under 20 lbs now that he's back in shape) makes him an easy traveler for any situation.

Rusty is neutered, up to date on rabies, vaccinations, is heartworm negative, is current on heartworm preventative, has been wormed, on monthly flea treatment, has had a good bath, comes with a new collar and leash, a free first vet visit to a participating vet of your choice, 45 days of free pet health insurance, a goodie bag full of dog stuff, and an adoption folder with all of his vetting paperwork in it.

Thanks for adopting from Black Dog, Second Chance!
